Welcome to Joel's Home Page
Some might wonder why a person would bother putting
time and effort into a web site, considering the plethora of sites already
in place. This site is (I admit) far from being complete, and hopefully
by the time I'm finished it will convey truth; truth about who man
is in relation to himself and in relation to the world; truth about how
finite limited people can have any certainty about their knowledge, and
truth about the only real and solid basis for morality and ethics.
I believe that the God of the Bible is the answer to
life's problems. Our existence (Genesis
1:26,27), our knowledge (Colossians 2:3),
and
our ethics (I Peter 1:15) only find a
firm foundation in the person of the biblical God. Click here if you want to learn about how you can
meet the infinite-personal living God.
Soon I will have more written to further explain
the claims I have made. However, Christians have a real and
unshakeable hope, a certainty in life because of the promises of God in
Scripture. The following passage, 1 Peter 1:3-9, is one of my favorites
because of how it shows in the second paragraph that even in the midst of
real trials we may rejoice as Christians, because we rejoice in the
hope of our salvation which depends not on our imperfect and feeble works,
but upon the glorious, completed, and perfect work of our Savior.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us
again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and
that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept
by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be
revealed in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a
little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than
gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to
praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom
having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet
believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls.
