Do you know what the living God is like? Listen to what He says about Himself.

God is righteous:
For the Lord is righteous; He loves righteousness; the upright will behold his face. - Psalm 11:7
God is holy:
...Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts, the whole earth is full of his glory. - Isaiah 6:3
God is just:
For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. - II Corinthians 5:10
God is sovereign:
Remember the former things long past, for I am God and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like ME, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, "My purpose will be established and I will accomplish all My good pleasure." - Isaiah 46:9,10

When you meet God for who He is, you meet yourself for who you are. This means there is a clash.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans 3:23

As it is written, there is none righteous, not even one. - Romans 3:10

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all have sinned. - Romans 5:12

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear. - Isaiah 59:2

Because you are lost--separated from God, you must seek Him again in Christ.

Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me. - John 14:6

For Christ died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit. - I Peter 3:18

And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. - I Peter 2:24

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. - I John 1:9

In response to God's grace, you are called to trust in Christ for salvation.

...If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. - Romans 10:9,10

Trust in the LORD with all of your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. - Proverbs 3:5

Once you turn from your sins and trust in Christ for your salvation, you meet yourself again as a child of God.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe in His name. - John 1:12

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. - Romans 8:16

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgement, but has passed out of death into life. - John 5:24
